She’s released three mixed tapes, one album and on the cusp of her second, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Nicki Minaj is finally coming to Australia and can't be more excited about it!
“The Australian fans have been blowing me up on Twitter and I could not wait for this news to come out.” Minaj told Nova FM’s Smallzy. “They are my family, my extended family that I haven’t seen yet so this is going to be a really big deal for me” she said.
From all accounts around the world her live shows are breathtaking, you just have to had watched the Grammy performance to see that and despite being mates, Minaj isn’t spilling the beans with us. “You know what, I like to keep that as a real surprise!” she smiles “Once thing is for certain, when you leave out that door you going to be like ‘when is she coming back because I am going to book my tickets’. I’m going to make it a big event, It’s going to be super exciting, I’ll take you through every emotion you could possible feel, it’s going to be fun!” she said.
Being the talk of the Grammys earlier on in the year with her performance “Roman’s Revenge” Nicki gets the chance to clear it up with her Aussie fans telling Nova there was never any intent to hurt anyone’s feelings, in fact it was quite the opposite. “It was never meant to be disrespectful to any region. It was about Roman - he’s used to being ridiculed and condemned just because he is different. I just want people to stop ridiculing people because they are different , and I think I wanted to do it that time because it felt like the right time!” she said.
It's not about putting anyone offside with the "Starship" songstress, coming from nothing to now one of the biggest female rappers, she's very appreciative of everything she has today. "Coming from absolute nothing. I’m living my dreams and showing her fans they too can live their dreams with hard work, drive and dedication anybody can do this, it’s possible." Said Minaj.
While the world is (and always has been) her oyster it’s about not giving up and plugging away even though the world can start to gang up. “No matter what, there is light at the end of the tunnel… AT THE END OF EVERY TUNNEL”. said Minaj. "I would cry myself to sleep sometimes thinking OMG this is never going to happen, I’m never going to make it”. she said.
While everyone is in a race to grow up and be the next big thing, it’s all about taking it slow, doing the hard yards and enjoy being a kid, Minaj emphasised to Smallzy. To take Rosy and Sofia Grace as an example, it’s all about just being a kid “Don’t rush being growing up. Be a kid as long as you possibly can. You don’t have to have sex, don’t have to be sexy, you don’t have to impress anyone but yourself and one day you’ll be able to do things that you’ve always wanted to do.” she said.
