Stan Walker's biggest critic is his mum, who he says will come down on him like a ton of bricks if his ego ever gets too big.
He told Nova Top Ten's Kerley, Michelle and Smallzy how he wrestles with her:
"I grip her in a headlock... she sits on my back and knees me in the kidneys!"
Stan Walker's mum has even spent time in the slammer, he revealed in an interview, and although he didn't say what for, we're actually too afraid of her to ask.
As the Australian Idol winner of 2009, Stan's had to learn how to turn on the charm for the media, but he still lives only for his family, friends and his music and chose his new single purely for the lyrics:
"I wanted to choose the right song, if you sing about licking and sexing, you get known for having that sort of personality, and I'm not like that. The lyrics of Unbroken tell a story, they tell my story," he told Nova's Top Ten.
Stan's new single 'Unbroken' is currently sitting pretty at number 16 on iTunes, which would undoubtedly please his mum. "She's a big Maori beast" he tells us - his words, not ours, don't tell her! He won't be unbroken for long if she hears that.
