Born in Tokyo and raised in Melbourne, Asami is a singer-songwriter with an unmistakable voice. Her music is replete with memories of life, love and everything in between, drawing inspiration from artists such as Sia, Ben Harper and Karen O to create timeless and playful pop tunes.
With the energetic support of her band, Asami has performed at many Melbourne venues, such as Federation Square, The Espy Gershwin Room, The Wesley Anne, The East Brunswick Club, and most recently at The Workers’ Club for their sell-out EP Launch. While entertaining their loyal fans, the four members have been winning over the hearts of the young and the young at heart with their colourfully animated live shows.
Asami and the band recorded the Sweeter EP at SingSing South with Prasheen Naran and since then have been featured in Beat Magazine as well as websites such as FasterLouder.com and Trespass Magazine. In a world of over-produced, analytical and highly compressed music, the Sweeter EP brings a refreshingly raw sound. Asami describes her music as “hopeful and intuitive” and never hesitates to create beautiful melodies from simple chord progressions and basic instrumentation. Her infectious bubblegum-pop songs will certainly be leaving everyone humming along, with a smile on their faces.
