Swedish House Mafia is a Swedish House Music group consisting of the three disc jockeys and producers; Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. The group officially formed in late 2008.
Steve & Sebastian met as children in Stockholm; Axwell was not a member until multiple years later after they contacted him after a chance meeting. All three carried on producing tracks as a single body, and with other producers such as Eric Prydz.
The name Swedish House Mafia first appeared on forums and was used to encapsulate the group of producers that were working together in the future. Steve Angello stated: "But we’ve been through everything together. I can always lean on one of their shoulders and they can lean on mine. I can always trust their opinions. When I have a track, they tell me straight away what they think. With Swedish House Mafia, you’re with friends…."
The first production that was released by Axwell, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso was "Leave the World Behind" featuring Deborah Cox. It was produced with Laidback Luke and released on Axtone Records in 2009.
In 2010 the Swedish House Mafia signed a record deal with EMI.
