Grandparents William and Lorraine were competing for the ultimate day out at the Golden Slipper at Rosehill for their grandchild, including a helicopter flight to the races!
Church St Mall in Parramatta was host of the final and a big crowd turned out to see William shuffle his way to the finish, fractionally in front of Lorraine. He was used to winning, as he was the Gold Medallist at the 1948 Olympics for the 100 yard dash. Well, that's what he told us!
We even had the actual Golden Slipper trophy there ready for photos with the winner. William thought he got to keep it but it actually will belong to the winner of Saturday's $3.5million race at Rosehill.
