When Christina Perri's track "Jar Of Hearts" featured on the U.S. version of So You Think You Can Dance, she became an overnight success.
The emotional song pulled on the heartstrings of fans all over the world and soared to the top of the charts.
Luckily for Perri, the song that helped her break through, and the track that she's performed hundreds and thousands of times, is an incredibly significant song that she holds dear to her heart.
"The song is really about demanding what you're worth; not going back to unhappy things, and being strong enough to call someone out for being awful," she explains.
"When I perform "Jar" I really go some place else. There's this magic thing that happens where the audience sings it to me louder than I sing it."
Perri says because the song stemmed from the heartbreak she experienced, it's therapeutic every time she performs it.
"I still feel like I stitch up a little stitch on my own heart every time I sing it because I really mean it and I really went through it," she says.
"There's this genuine authenticity where I don't just want to sing it one more time because it's 'that song'. So I make a point to really jump into it every time I perform it and the audience really feels it too."
